Autumn Colors on the Island

“Autumn Colors on the Island” is a 14”x18” charcoal/pastel drawing of two wooden barrels of mums on Ocracoke. I drew this because I was anxious to try to draw this page full of bright colors and to see if I’d have success mixing pan pastels to get the right shades. A mixture of blues and permanent red tones for the lilac colored tubs and darynide yellow with different oranges for the yellow one turned out perfectly “when the dust settled”. Everything else is detailed hard, medium, and soft charcoal to contrast against those bright colors.
