Outer Banks Solitude
"Outer Banks Solitude" is a 17 1/8”X22" charcoal/pastel drawing of the abandoned/retired Oregon Inlet Coastguard station on the NC Outer Banks. This is the third drawing of this coastguard station I've drawn of this idlylic building I've admired for years every time I drive over the Herbert Bonner and now the Martin Basnight Bridge spanning Oregon Inlet. I watched it fall into a state of decay several years ago until it was restored to apparent perfection, only to watch its being unused and fall into disrepair again. The amazing part is that whatever state this historic building is, the scene is still one of the prettiest views, but even more special experiences, I've found on the Outer Banks...no matter if seeing it far away from the bridge or parking and walking up to it and savoring the building and everything around it. It's a special place in so many ways, no matter the condition of this historic Oregon Inlet Station so many have served in over the years we'll never see again. The original unframed 17 1/8” X 22" drawing is offered for $750.00.
